The gay porn industry is in a strange state of flux with regard to the use of condoms in videos. Over the last several years, we’ve seen many of the newer, online studios produce bareback content (e.g. Sean Cody, Next Door Studios, Bel Ami), while the older, more established studios (Hot House, COLT, Titan, Channel 1, and Falcon/Raging Stallion) have remained steadfast in their commitment to make condom-only videos.

With their newest release, “California Dreamin’ 1″, Falcon has found a unique way to address the issue: Director Tony Dimarco and Falcon’s post-production team have digitally removed condoms from the video to create “a completely safe sex movie that mostly appears to be a bareback release.” (Note: All un-watermarked images in this post are screen-grabs from Falcon’s “California Dreamin 1″)

Dimarco described it as “a throwback to the classic, pre-condom Falcon poolside movies from the 70′s and 80′s.” He added, “With this movie I really wanted to capture the essence of that time, when life seemed more carefree and spontaneous. In keeping with this concept, I felt that condoms need to be addressed. I wanted to give the impression of a pre-condom movie, but use condoms as we do in every scene we film. I found a way to film the movie safely and effectively, while giving the experience that I had intended and using the hottest modern stars.”

Will this new technique put an end to the stormy condom vs. bareback porn debate that’s been raging for years? Probably not. But it will be interesting to see how fans react and Falcon/Raging Stallion Studios President Chris Ward thinks this move could be a game changer for the industry. Ward declared that this “will go down as a defining moment in the production of safe, top-quality male erotica.” He added: “The innovation and use of technology to make condoms less ‘in your face’ is something that allows us to appeal to all porn fans while protecting our actors’ health.”

“California Dreamin’ 1″ stars exclusives Ryan Rose, Ray Diaz and Donnie Dean, it also features Angel Rock, Lance Luciano, Ray Han, Adam Wirthmore and Liam Magnuson in his final scene before retiring. “California Dreamin’ 1″ will be available for pre-sale on the Falcon Store starting tomorrow.
